Small Wedding at a Colorado Taphouse: Connor and Kacie’s Epic Celebration at 2 Penguins Taphouse

October 7, 2023

Here’e one of the most fun, heartfelt, and adorable small weddings at a Colorado taphouse I’ve had the pleasure of photographing: Connor and Kacie’s celebration at 2 Penguins Taphouse in Centennial, CO. This wedding was the perfect blend of intimate, quirky, and full of personality, and I’m excited to share their story with you. Trust me, you’ll want to grab a beer and settle in because this one is a rollercoaster of feels, laughs, and killer dance moves.

Before diving into their wedding day, let’s rewind a little bit to how I met these two lovebirds. I had the absolute honor of photographing Connor’s surprise proposal to Kacie in the stunning Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a picture-perfect Colorado moment: snow-capped peaks, crisp mountain air, and their dog Gnocchi (yes, dogs are allowed in parking areas, so we made it work!). This whole session was all about capturing their love in the wild, wide-open spaces of the park. Gnocchi was the real star, adding that extra bit of cuteness to the mix. After the proposal, we took some epic wide-angle portraits with those jaw-dropping views of the mountains as a backdrop. Spoiler: those portraits? Absolute fire.

Fast forward to October, and Kacie and Connor were ready to celebrate their love in a completely different setting: 2 Penguins Taphouse in Centennial, Colorado. If you’re looking for a venue with the perfect blend of an indoor and outdoor vibe, this place is a winner. It’s cozy yet spacious, and it was the perfect spot for their medium-sized guest list.

If you know me, you know I can’t get enough of private first looks. And Connor and Kacie’s private first look didn’t disappoint. Kacie’s dress was absolutely stunning, and Connor? Well, let’s just say he cleaned up pretty well. We got some beautiful portraits in the surrounding area, some of my favorite shots of the day. The light was perfect, the energy was high, and it was clear these two were ready for their next chapter together.

When it came time for the ceremony… it was a vibe. A small group of family and friends gathered at 2 Penguins Taphouse, surrounded by the warmth of love and laughter. Connor and Kacie’s ceremony was full of emotional moments, heartfelt vows, and plenty of laughs. They brought their unique personalities into every moment, making it feel like a true reflection of who they are as a couple.

I always capture candid shots of friends and family during the session. These are moments that couples won’t notice or remember and they’re so fun to look at in wedding galleries.

I love the opportunity to created artistic shots of the ceremony. These are the kind of shots you might want to print and hang on your wall.

Candid moments are why people hire me as a photojournalist.

One of my favorite parts? The shots. I’m not talking about the kind you’d expect to see at a college party (although, hey, no judgment). No, this was a “celebrate love” kind of shot, a toast to the couple’s journey and all the good times ahead. Cheers to that!

The recessional! You know that moment when the newlyweds walk down the aisle, and the crowd is cheering, and everything feels like it’s all come together? Well, Connor and Kacie made sure that moment was extra memorable. With a confetti pop, they celebrated in style, and the burst of color was the perfect touch to their already epic ceremony. It was a moment full of joy, excitement, and, of course, confetti everywhere. Definitely a highlight of the day!

Now, when you’re at a wedding at a Colorado taphouse, you know the party is going to be a blast. The reception was no exception. It was electric. The beer was flowing, and the dance floor was packed with everyone ready to party. And I have to give a shout-out to Connor’s mad skills: this guy is a high school basketball coach, and he’s got some serious ups.

But let’s not forget the real highlight of the evening: Connor and Kacie dancing together. They absolutely killed it on the dance floor, totally owning every song. The whole vibe was so laid-back and fun, and the couple’s guests followed suit, grooving all night to some classic jams and new hits. You could feel the joy and connection in the air, and it was clear that everyone was there to celebrate not just a wedding, but the beginning of yet another adventure for Kacie and Connor.

Kacie and Connor had some super cute DIY decor. I loved seeing my engagement photos that one of their siblings turned into a painting! How cool!
