Kae and Reid’s love story started on the slopes of a ski competition and blossomed into a beautiful mountain wedding surrounded by wildflowers in Leadville, Colorado. As an outdoorsy couple, they wanted their wedding to reflect their love for nature and adventure. A few months before their wedding we had a blast photographing their engagement session up in Leadville and Twin Lakes.
Leadville, a small town nestled in the Rocky Mountains, provided the perfect backdrop for Kae and Reid’s engagement portraits and wedding day. The couple’s engagement session in Leadville and Twin Lakes Colorado in April set the tone for their wedding day, highlighting the natural beauty of the area and their adventurous spirit.
FREIGHT wedding venue provided an excellent space for getting ready. Kae and her bridesmaids had a ton of fun together.

Reid and his groomsmen only realized after they were dressed that eating pizza in white dress shirts was a bad idea.

Kae’s love for wildflowers was evident in every aspect of the wedding. The private first look in a field of wildflowers was a truly magical moment captured by Bonnie Photo. The ceremony was in a wildflower-filled meadow full of close friends a family. The decor was full of wildflowers. Carrie of Stellar and Sage planning made sure everything looked perfect. We love working with her!

Live music for any part of a wedding is always a great decision.

The emotional moments during the ceremony were a testament to Kae and Reid’s love for each other. They shared their story of how they met through their love of skiing and all things outdoorsy and their vows were heartfelt and genuine. We made sure every moment and memory was preserved for a lifetime.

Excuse me while I show my history nerd self here: Leadville, CO is the highest incorporated city in the United States, sitting at an elevation of 10,152 feet above sea level. The city was once a booming mining town during the Colorado silver rush of the late 1800s generating more than $3 billion worth of silver during its peak.
FREIGHT, where Kae and Reid’s reception was held, is a unique and historical wedding venue located in Leadville. It was once a warehouse for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, which transported silver and other minerals out of Leadville during its mining heyday. Today, FREIGHT has been converted into a stunning event space that still pays homage to its railroad roots. The cabins on the property are named after famous prostitutes (some of the only women who lived in early Colorado mining towns) from early in Leadville’s history, adding an interesting and quirky touch to the venue’s character.
Back to this amazing wedding: the cocktail hour was a true reflection of Kae and Reid’s fun-loving personalities, with beverage burros serving beer and cornhole boards featuring their cats painted on them.

The reception was full of beautiful dances, with Kae and Reid sharing a special couple’s swing dance followed by an awesome dance party.

We ended the night with some creative portraits and a sparkler exit.

FEIGHT is the perfect venue for adventurous couples looking for a super unique Rocky Mountain setting.
